Coupled methyl groups in dimethyl sulphide
Low field methyl tunnelling spectra of dimethyl sulphide have been measured using field cycling NMR and indicate the existence of two distinct methyl groups with tunnel. frequencies of 100kHz and 750kHz. Spectra show a significant broadening of the Larmor peak at those fields at which the Larmor and tunnel frequencies are equal. These are resonances between the rotational and spin dynamics of t...
متن کاملNoncanonical Reactions of Flavoenzymes
Enzymes containing flavin cofactors are predominantly involved in redox reactions in numerous cellular processes where the protein environment modulates the chemical reactivity of the flavin to either transfer one or two electrons. Some flavoenzymes catalyze reactions with no net redox change. In these reactions, the protein environment modulates the reactivity of the flavin to perform novel ch...
متن کاملSome properties of n-capable and n-perfect groups
In this article we introduce the notion of n-capable groups. It is shown that every group G admits a uniquely determined subgroup (〖Z^n)〗^* (G) which is a characteristic subgroup and lies in the n-centre subgroup of the group G. This is the smallest subgroup of G whose factor group is n-capable. Moreover, some properties of n-central extension will be studied.
متن کاملOxidation in vivo of the methyl groups of choline, betaine, dimethylthetin, and dimethyl-beta-propiothetin.
It has recently been demonstrated in this laboratory (l-3) that “biologically labile” methyl groups can be oxidized to CO2 in the rat. This has been established by feeding methionine containing radioactive carbon in the methyl group and demonstrating the presence of radioactive CO2 in the expired air. In the present communication a comparison is made of the rates of oxidation of methyl groups a...
